2 month well baby

My baby is 2 months already. He did really well at his appointment, the Dr. said he's perfect! He's in the 75% for height and 25% for height and head circumference.
The worst part for me was that he had to get 3 shots. We both cried. He did well though, he got over it pretty fast. Although he has been cranky the rest of the day, either sleeping or crying. I did give him some baby tylenol.
Adam came home and Blake started cooing at him and smiling and then started crying. Poor baby!

kitties

Roswell got a bath today. He wasn't very happy with us but he really needed it. He had a lot of shedded fur that got stuck in his coat. Now he's clean and looks thinner.
Vegas got lucky, we were running low on shampoo, so she didn't get a bath.

Here are a couple pictures of them after playing with the laser.

twilight husbands

I guess I've started people reading the book at church. Debbie was the first one and she started recruiting as well. Now we have a nice group of people who have read or are in the process of reading the series. Kelli told me she hated us for getting her started reading. Debbie and I think it's great.
I came home tonight and told Adam about it and he said that the husbands would have to get together and form a support group.
For those of you who are sad when they get to the end of the last book and want more, I suggest going to Stephenie Meyer's website (link on the right). You can read outtakes, FAQ's and the first chapter of Midnight Sun, which is Twilight told from Edward's perspective. It's pretty interesting.

hanging with daddy

cooking

It's been a while since I really cooked. It's more difficult with Blake and with Adam working nights, it's only a few days that I cook. Last night I made lasagna rolls with a bechamel sauce. It turned out pretty good.
I've been trying to get a recipe for Filipino Chicken Adobo right, so I've made it once a week for the past 3 weeks. I think I've finally gotten it right. Our friends brought it over one night and it was so good that I wanted to make it again. She didn't give me the recipe so I did some research online and tried my own variation. I'm so glad I'm able to replicate it. It's one of my favorites. Good thing Adam likes it, because I'm probably going to be making it a lot.
Here's a picture of a caprese salad I made. If you need to use some of your tomatoes....

It's tomato, fresh mozzarella, basil, salt & pepper, olive oil and a balsamic reduction I made.
The flavor combination is great and it looks so pretty.

salsa

We had a salsa party. It was great fun! It was the first time I canned other than making jam and it wasn't too terrible considering there were 3 of us to do the work.

First you blanch the tomatoes.

Then peel and chop them.
Then you add it to a pot and add onions, seasoning, peppers, whatever recipe you want to follow.
Put it into prepared jars and into the water bath to process.

This is the finished product.

Then you get to enjoy!

a little bit of me; IV

We left off with us "dancing", Adam knew how I felt but he wasn't sharing how he felt with me. Towards the end of November he went on leave with his friend, Orange to Utah and Idaho. I was missing him and our phone conversations. I didn't really want to be that girl that called and bothered him, so instead I was the girl that looked at my phone...
One day I was checking my email and was surprised to get an email from him. (I asked if I could share some of what he wrote and he agreed. Of course I SAVED it!) He started out telling me how his trip was going and then my heart started beating and I stopped breathing.
(I just copied and pasted, no editing)

I read it many times, not quite believing what I was reading, thinking it was too good to be true.
We dated for a month and then we broke up. Part of it was my fault. I hardly remember that month at all, I was so terrified. I didn't have a clue what I was doing or what I was supposed to be doing, having never dated before. The other part was that "hunch" he had. I think he knew I was the one and he was scared. It wasn't a nasty breakup at all. I knew that he was scared. Of course it didn't stop me from crying me eyes out.
We were still friends and still talked and saw each other and hung out. It was so much easier to be with each other, the pressure was off. We both realized that. He really wanted to hang out with me on Valentine's Day, so he came to CT and brought me flowers and a book and we got back together.
He went to New Orleans the end of February to guard the Marine Corps Band for the Mardi Gras parades. We talked about everyday. He told me he loved me for the first time and we started talking about getting married. I know that it sounds fast, and it was, but we both knew.
It was then that I remembered my patriarchal blessing that said "it was vital to obtain a confirmation through the Holy Ghost of my choice". All of a sudden I was freaked out. Adam was my one and only. I hadn't dated anyone else. I loved him, I wanted to marry him. I was battling with myself, not wanting to get that confirmation. What if the answer was no? Was I going to marry him anyway? How could I tell him no? How could I hurt him?
In the end I prayed and read and prayed and read until I got my answer. I was so relieved and happy. I told Adam, he thought I should have done that BEFORE we decided to get married.
He asked me to marry him on March 12, 2001, on the anniversary of my baptism.
On April 21, 2001 we went to the Washington DC Temple and I married the right person, at the right time and in the right place just like Heavenly Father promised.

happy bebe

Blake has started smiling a lot more. I can't even tell you how much joy it brings to see him smiling at me, but I'm sure those who have children know what I'm talking about.

from Twilight to Mailboxes

Well, I've just finished reading the Twilight series for the third time and have passed the last 2 on for Lenette to read (sorry I'm telling on you). As usual, getting to the end is sad. Sigh... There are a few more people reading them and it'll be nice to talk to them after they've read them all.
Anyways...
We got our new mailbox up finally. We decided to get an unfinished cedar post and stain and seal it. We put a copper mailbox on it and I have to say it looks great. Our mail carrier Kathy liked it so much she left us a note saying so! So here are some pictures:

I know, not hugely exciting, but we really like it.

a little bit of me; III

I realized that by getting baptised, I was entering into a covenant with Heavenly Father: I get baptised and join the Church of Jesus Christ of latter-day Saints and in return I would find the person I was going to marry.
Not kidding, as soon as I was baptised, I was looking for whoever it would be that I would marry. Unfortunately I ended up with a crush on the missionary that baptised me. It's a little embarrassing even now. Everyone knew, he knew. That kind of stuff just writes itself on my face for the world to see and I can't seem to help it. Eventually I realized that I would just have to be patient. There were Sister missionaries that were in the branch that met at our ward building and I became close to them. One of them (she's one of my favorites, Emily) was talking to me one day and told me about this Marine I should meet. He was about my age and talked about wanting to get married. Huh... I didn't see any Marines, let alone ANY singles in my ward. I wondered how I was going to meet him but didn't really think much of it.
There was a Temple trip scheduled for the Saturday before Memorial Day and I was having a hard time deciding to go or not. I was really nervous, I'm not a social butterfly and it scared me to be around people I didn't know. I ended up going. I was quiet and kept to myself, watching everyone. I did meet a couple of people, one was the YSA leader (I'm not sure that's the right terminology) and she got my info and called me to invite me to a picnic that Monday. I was nervous to go, but I went anyways.
At the picnic is where I saw Adam. I did see him on the Temple trip, but I didn't really talk to him. Adam LOVES telling people that the first time I met him I thought he was a jerk. It's not exactly true. I don't consider this meeting him. I didn't talk to him or him to me, I just watched. I can't remember what exactly he did, but I did indeed think he was an arrogant jerk. I went home thinking nothing of it.
I had found out that the YSA would have FHE and institute and was invited to go. So I started going. We had another activity at a lake and this is when I officially met Adam. We started talking. It was hot outside and he was wiping his face with a napkin and I remember that little pieces were sticking to his stubble. It was kinda cute. All Adam remembers is that he wanted to drive my old VW Jetta because it was a stick.
As we were talking he says to me "You're the one the Sister missionaries were telling me about!"
It took me by surprise and I said "You're the one the Sister missionaries were telling ME about."
Huh...
This was in June. We saw each other at FHE and stuff and chatted, but nothing really happened, except me crushing on him. It was sometime this summer that I knew he was the one I was going to marry, but I didn't really trust it. I remember now... there was a trip to Palmyra to see the Pageant. After that Adam and a couple other girls and I went to Niagara Falls and Adam and I talked the whole time while the girls slept.
This is about the time that I started thinking about getting a nanny job. In late August, early September, I went on an interview with a family in Westport, CT and got hired. I was excited. It turns out that the "Nanny ward" I was going to was the same one that Adam went to so that he could meet girls. There were about 100 girls and about 5 guys, so his odds were pretty good.
There was a fireside there my first Sunday and Adam was there and he called me over to sit by him. We exchanged phone numbers, I didn't really think he would call me, but he did.
We would talk for an hour at a time about all kinds of stuff. He was dating this one girl in Missouri that he was kinda serious about, but he was dating other girls too. She had just broken up with him. We became good friends. The more we talked and hung out (he would come to CT for FHE) the more I liked him.
My friends were his friends and he would talk to them too. Remember I said that my emotions were written on my face... Yeah, Adam knew and he would tease me about it. Whatever. He started asking my friends about how I felt and they would tell him a little and tell me what they said. Sometimes I wanted to die. But he was starting to like me too.
Funny story: He had told my friend that I reminded him of Adrianne from Rocky, with my glasses and all and somehow he mentioned the scene where Rocky took off her glasses and kissed her. So I did what anyone would do; I rented Rocky and watched that part. HA! Adam called right at that part, you can imagine me scrambling to stop the movie and try to act normal. I just about had a heart attack!
So we had this little dance... He knew that I liked him and he wouldn't really tell me what he was feeling.

poor Roswell

Roswell must be feeling neglected lately. I can't say I blame him, although he is a HUGE pain in the butt sometimes. He's tried to get in my lap, rub up against me... and all he gets in return is "go away Roswell", "Bug off Roswell", or "you're driving me crazy Roswell".
So he's taken to laying on a towel that Adam used from PT (gross, huh?)

baby toys

We went shopping for Blake the other day and got him one of those floor gyms. I found this cute little wrist rattles with a pig and a cow. Even though it was close to the time for him to eat, I put together the gym and put the wrist rattles on and took a picture:
After I fed him, I put him back and he played for a while and then fell asleep.
